May Dreams
by John Stocks
And then suddenly it’s spring
Tomorrow I will see you again
Dazzled by the exploding light
Sudden infusions of colour.
I taste coffee for the first time
Feel fresh orange juice on my tongue
The perfect purity of cool water.
Now there is beauty in the madness
A veil over winter’s malignity
A barren landscape where I wandered
Soulless in an empty dream of you.
Now there is passion again and poetry
A sense of purpose, mystery
A first harvest of May dreams.
