The Hunt Hunt

by Lyn Perry

“I’m going shopping, Steph, want to come with?” Jerry overheard his wife asking their daughter.

“Are you just shopping or are you shopping shopping?” came the response.

“Oh, I’m shopping shopping,” Angela said enthusiastically.

“Okay, I’ll come.” Stephanie grabbed her handbag.

Jerry glanced at his son and asked, confused, “What’s the difference between shopping and shopping shopping?”

This time his wife overheard and laughed. “It’s a matter of degree, silly. Women understand these things.”

“Well, while you’re gone, Billy and I are going Zombie hunting, Zombie hunting.”

“Keep trying, Honey, you’ll figure it out eventually.”

So while Angela and Stephanie went to the mall, Jerry and Billy went Zombie hunting.

“Great day to kill some Zombies, eh, son?” Jerry asked as they trudged through the forest on a crisp autumn morning.

“Sure is, Dad. But aren’t they dead already?”

“Well, I suppose so. But to really kill them we have to hack them up so they don’t come back to ‘life’.”

“So, Zombies are dead, but they’re not dead dead?” He grinned.

Jerry ruffled his son’s hair. “You better watch it, Billy. You’re starting to sound like your mother.”
