Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Martin Hill Ortiz
Martin lives in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He’s been active in theater performance and production; his prose and poetry have regularly won recognition.
“Head-On” is a story of escape from a dystopia. Is the dark society literally a police state in which drug addiction is enforced? There are many reasons to see it as an allegory for any kind of ideocracy. However one may interpret the setting, the action is builds steadily from jailed oppression to a headlong flight of escape and a final redemption by, presumably, Threa’s forgiveness. The result is a kind of ballad in prose.
