Dear Heather
by Stephen Ellams
A delicate breeze
brings kisses to bare
upon our school reunion
such intense infatuation
that stop and stare ‘C’ chord vibration.
Aesthetic eye that draws me in-
to a world of Rogers and Astaire
the allure of softly spoken words.
For my brooding heart
has long lamented
the girl-shy teenager I once was,
dancing to a timeless melody
in this place.
Would you have noticed me?
Orbiting
clone-like in-crowds
more maverick than social outcast
coolly moistening my lips
daydreaming
of an amorous first kiss.
Head-spun
prom Queen
misplaced memory
mnemosyne, fine art majestic
mesmeric
pirouetting beauty.
Would you care to dance with me?
