Bewildering Stories welcomes...
John I Leggett
John is from Watervliet, New York but has lived in Maine with his family for the last forty years. He has been writing for a long time with gratifying recognition to show for it. He has also published two novels.
“Penciled In” is a short story written in a style that is quite the opposite of John’s natural enthusiasm. It’s a cautionary tale about Henry, a widower who, in his loneliness, concentrates on the most trivial and meaningless things in life, When he tries to reach out to co-workers and, finally, to a fellow bus rider, he suffers abject failure. Readers must think that Henry needs help. And so, sometimes, don’t we all?
