When Machines Learn

A computer algorithm,
a deep neural network,
has reinvented the way
many technologies are built,
learning from large amounts of data
in calculations so rapid
that the human designers
may not understand
exactly why the machine
reached a particular decision.
Now that they’re learning on their own,
we can only wonder
if they’ll do crazier things
than their human teachers.
