“Spooky” is bound to amuse readers with its depiction of a kind of social club. The ladies deride superstition, but a young man, Cyril, decides to play a practical joke by impersonating a ghost, “Spooky.” The joke backfires on him, and well it might; the ladies have real-life experiences that outclass any ghost story.
