On the Island of the Moon
Strange things can be seen
Enormous birds are chased for sport in June
While trained lemurs keep the King's Palace clean
The commoners are served by mechanical men
Who attend to every need
Their construction is beyond our ken
Yet they impressed us indeed
Of the government little needs be told
They have a king
Who is kept in storage ice cold
Real power is given to those who can sing
They create enormous buildings of sapphire
But live in cosy rectangle huts of stone
The also dress in grand attire
But only when they are making their special soup of bone
Of this island no more can be said
Especially as the rest is hearsay
As most who come stay until they are dead
For only fools would not stay
