Mrs. Frog
by Thomas R.
In 1978 she rode into town
A baby in her basket sat
And on her head the most peculiar hat
Mrs. Frog of great renown
She taught history
Making all feel she lived it
Telling tales of remarkable wit
While never revealing her own mystery
She once inspired kings and sages
Mastered martial arts and dead tongues
Felt the wind of Troy in her lungs
Kept this quiet through the ages
Yet they would never know her as anything except Mrs. Frog
The lady peculiar and nice
Whose stories gave their life spice
While keeping her story opaque as fog
Until the day she rides out of town
Waving her now-grown babe good-bye
She sadly lets this identity die
Returning to the ancient Frog Clan and her honored gown
