Real and Otherwise is an artist’s book of photography and conceptual art of plants, animals, and landscapes. This collection contrasts phantasmagorical images with actual depictions.
After all, the here and now consists of elements real and otherwise. Some are flora, others fauna. Some are wild, others domesticated. Some are fashioned by G-d, others assembled by humankind. Some consist of heaven’s grandeur, others reflect the miracles of Earthly seas or Earthly land. All in all, they constitute an abundance for which we ought to be in awe.
Whether these objects of amazement are categorized as “small,” “medium,” “large,” or “extra-large,” they bring into being new ways of thinking and inspire new creations. They, likewise, call forth gratitude since they hark back to the manifold goodness constituting our lives.
When we’re mindful of these foundations, we’re enriched. When we appreciate their concommitant endowment, we’re increasingly serene. It’s to our advantage that our realm is populated by such wonder.
